Infotelmed has been asked by the Régie Régionale de la santé of New Brunswick to develop the content of two of 6 online modules about telehealth, for Francophone learners in the health sector.  The content is being digitized by the Groupe des technologies de l'apprentissage (GTA) of the Université de Moncton.

Infotelmed recently received a mandate from Diversis to collaborate in the development of a proposal to develop an evaluation framework for the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS).  The contract was awarded to Diversis and Infotelmed collaborated in the elaboration of the evaluation framework for the "Integration of Internationally Educated Francophone Health Professionals in French-Speaking Minority Communities" project.

Dr Picot has been appointed vice president of e-kss - a not for profit organization designed to promote knowledge exchange between the Canadian aboriginals and Brazilian indigenous peoples.  For more information on the creation of this organization and its activities see our affiliations page and the e-kss web site (www.e-kss.org).

INFOTELMED PROJECTS

Due to a wide range of telehealth and e-health operational and research experience over the years, Infotelmed and its associates have developed, pre-tested amd applied unique methods and tools adapted to the needs of the telehealth and e-health industry to help adopters make appropriate technological choices and cope with the organizational changes that ICTs inevitably bring within organizations.

Telehealth strategic and action plans

2007-2009: working with the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC) Infotelmed completed a number of studies leading to the implementation of telehealth within selected First Nation communities in Quebec including a 3-year Telehealth strategic plan. a proposal to Health Canada's Aboriginal health Transition fund and most recently a feasibility study with reference to the integration of telehealth activities of the FNQ with Quebec telehealth programs.  For these activities, Infotelmed developed customized field research tools for telehealth orientation sessions, interviews, surveys and conducted focus groups. The FNQLHSSC supports and coordinates the health and social services needs of 28 FN communities in Quebec.

2006: Infotelmed collaborated with the telehealth working group in New Brunswick (NB) to develop a 5-year strategic plan for telehealth in NB.

2005 and earlier: Completed a telehealth strategic plan and an operational plan for the Ministere de la Santé et Services sociaux (Ministry of health) of Quebec resulting in start up funds for 10 of the 11 projects proposed in the plan.  Dr Picot was principal investigator for a report on telehealth coordinator roles funded by Health Canada, and was one of the first to document the history of telehealth and telemedicine in Canada, click here for article.

Telehealth project evaluations

Using multiple data collection methods for in-depth analyses, Infotelmed has conducted needs assessments and evaluations involving over 50 communities - rural, remote, isolated and scattered all over Canada, including First Nation Communities located in more than half of Canada's provincial, federal and territorial  jurisdictions. Infotelmed evaluated the beginnings of the MBTelehealth project and the Nunavut IIU network. The first telehealth research project in Canada was evaluated by Infotelmed and in 2001, an assessment of videoconferencing was co-authored by Dr Picot for the CCOHTA (now the CADTH).

Infotelmed produced the first report on the telehealth industry in Canada and co-authored an industry profile report.  For a complete list of our reports and publications, click here.
